Crazy late night after day one, myself and my two favourite photographer friends from last season, Ed and Rodin of www.fashionwirepress.com,  alongside stylist Brigitte Segura,  yellow cabbed it to SOHO for a late night feed.  Hadn’t eaten all day and was feeling rather ‘skeleton chic’.

By the time we were done and finished talking fashion, it was nearly 5am and the thought of two trains and a bus  to New Jersey felt rather overwhelming, so we all crashed at Brigitte and Rodin’s loft, A one bedroom, med size apartment in SOHO, very cool, funky and rather rustic, but at a price: US$6000+ per month. Hmmm, and I thought our rents were high; my dream of relocating up here with my brood seems rather distant.

Five minutes to call time at the Karen Walker show

9.30 am: I make a mad dash back to New Jersey (eeew) to change into a fresh look (fabulous Alexandra Owen), and pick up a Karen Walker dress for Roshumba Williams to wear for the show at the Altman Building for 3pm.  You would think that was an easy task, I kid you not, I a true blonde at finding my way around.  Five hours later! To make matters worse, Cyclone Hannah had hit town, we think it rains hard in Auckland! It was so heavy and dark everyone was having a bit of a giggle, because you just could not avoid being soaked.  By the time I made it to Roshumba’s PR’s apartment to collect her, we had half an hour before show time, obviously She was not impressed and both were starting to wonder if I was for real! No room for era up here, you don’t often get a second chance.

At Karen Walker’s show, everyone backstage was having a ball, goofing around and having a laugh, oblivious to the drowning fashionistas queuing round the block outside in the downpour.  Loved the show, fresh and summery daywear which had an American commercial appeal, different shades of blues, tans and creams to grey, recognised the some of the models from Karen’s Fall 08.
